Relaxation Exercise: Anchoring to Positive Thoughts and Feelings.
Familiarise yourself with this relaxation exercise over the next week by practising it daily until your next session. See below for written script (downloadable version at the side), and audio recording is also attached.
Please Note: This exercise can be used to access any particular emotion you would like draw on. Confidence is used in this example but you can decide on what positive emotion you want to access in advance eg happiness, satisfaction, serenity, amusement etc and draw on particular experiences or fantasies related to that particular emotion.
It is important to do this exercise at your own pace. Once you have read/listened to the script a couple of times and familiarised yourself with the process, take your time and ensure that with each example, you make the experience as real as possible for yourself . Include all your senses – what do you see, hear, smell , feel etc? Before you anchor the feeling from each example make sure that you are experiencing that emotion at a minimum intensity of 7 on the scale of 1 to 10.
Take a break and stretch a bit between each recollection/fantasy.
